The Best Mother in the World (2025)

A powerful and deeply human story about resilience, motherhood, and dignity. The film follows a recyclable materials collector who, after years of domestic violence, decides to seek help at the women's police station—but is met with the coldness and neglect of a system that should protect her.

With no alternatives, she makes a courageous decision: to flee her home with her two children, taking only the essentials in her cart. From there, this mother's journey becomes a moving portrait of struggle and hope, as she tries to build a new life on the streets, facing poverty, prejudice, and fear, but also finding solidarity and strength in her own determination.

Directed by Anna Muylaert (Que Horas Ela Volta?), with a screenplay by Grace Passô and Mariana Jaspe, the film promises to be one of the most impactful Brazilian productions of the year—a realistic and sensitive narrative about the unconditional love of a mother who, even though she has almost nothing, does everything she can to ensure a better future for her children.
