Before “The Thing,” there was the origin of fear.

In the seemingly quiet town of Derry, Maine, the summer of 1958 marks the beginning of something terrifying. Seven young people—considered “losers” by their peers—come together amid abuse, trauma, and neglect. But what begins as a summer of discovery and friendship soon turns into a living nightmare.

When each of them begins to witness horrific apparitions—a smiling clown, a decomposed mummy, creatures straight out of their worst fears—they realize they are facing the same malevolent entity: Pennywise, the dancing clown. But Pennywise is much more than he appears to be. He is an ancient force, a cosmic being that feeds on fear and children, reappearing every 27 years to hunt in Derry.

“IT: Welcome to Derry” serves as a prelude to the films ‘IT’ (2017) and “IT: Chapter 2” (2019), delving even deeper into the origins of the evil that has plagued the town for centuries. The series reveals how the cycle of terror began, explores the macabre founding of Derry, and shows the first confrontations with the creature hiding behind the clown makeup.
