The Penguin Lessons (2025)

In Lessons of Freedom (2025), the foreign teacher played by Steve Coogan takes on a new challenge when he moves to Argentina in 1976, in the midst of a military dictatorship. When he starts working at a school marked by unruly students and a hostile environment, he finds himself facing a harsh reality in a country divided by political and social tensions. Adaptation seems impossible, until an unexpected encounter changes everything.

On a lonely beach, the teacher rescues an injured penguin — a simple act that becomes the turning point in his journey. The unlikely relationship with the animal awakens feelings of empathy, hope, and courage in him, also reflecting on how he connects with his students and how he faces the adversities around him. Between moments of tenderness and reflection, the connection with the penguin becomes a powerful metaphor for friendship and resistance in dark times.
