The Witcher Season 4 Suffers Near 50% Viewership Drop On Netflix
The Witcher season 4 made its arrival in 2025, but not with the results that Netflix was expecting. Ever since Henry Cavill left The Witcher, many have been wondering how his absence would affect the fantasy series for its season 4.
This makes for the lowest numbers ever for the show, as The Witcher season 3 in 2023, during its first week (June 26 – July 2, 2023), had 15.2 million views, and 73 hours viewed. Season 2 had a better performance than season 4, with 142.3 hours viewed. Seasons 1 and 2 did well in terms of viewership, but the show has been experiencing a decline since.
Following Cavill's exit, Liam Hemsworth has taken on the role of Geralt of Rivia, whose casting has had extremely mixed to negative reactions. However, on Rotten Tomatoes, season 4 is sitting at 75% in the critics' score while having 46% audience ccore.
In ScreenRant's The Witcher season 4 review by Felipe Rangel, the latest installment of the Netflix adaptation had decent moments for Hemsworth. The critic shared how he "couldn't help but compare Hemsworth to Cavill in the role."
Despite the mixed reception to season 4, The Witcher season 5 has already been greenlit, as it is set to serve as the final season of the TV show. The next season has already finished filming, as the cast and crew wrapped in October 2025.
The Witcher season 4 is now streaming on Netflix, while the platform has yet to set a premiere date for season 5.
