On a quiet night in Minneapolis, Luke Ellis, a 12-year-old prodigy with paranormal gifts and above-average intelligence, is kidnapped from his home by unknown men. When he awakens, he finds himself in a dark and heavily guarded place known only as The Institute—a secret facility where other children with abilities such as telekinesis and telepathy are held against their will, subjected to cruel experiments under the guise of a “greater good.”

While Luke devises a daring plan to escape and expose the Institute's secrets, we follow the story of Tim Jamieson, a former police officer trying to start over in a small town in rural South Carolina. In search of peace, he takes a simple job as a night watchman. But Tim soon realizes that strange forces are at work in the shadows — and that his fate may be linked to that of a boy he doesn't even know.

As these two seemingly unrelated narratives converge, a conspiracy of unimaginable scale begins to emerge, threatening the future of thousands of children and challenging the limits of morality, science, and power.

Based on Stephen King's novel The Institute, this series adaptation is an intense psychological thriller, full of suspense, science fiction, and profound ethical dilemmas.
