In The Deal Doesn't Come Out Expensive (2025), Maia and Caetano have been living together for a year and are about to formalize their relationship with a civil union document. However, the specter of monogamy begins to haunt Maia, who fears losing the freedom and passion that have always marked their relationship. During a relaxed conversation with friends, she proposes an unusual idea: that each person should have a “permitted” partner—someone they could spend a night with without it being considered cheating.

What seemed like just a joke quickly gets out of hand when fantasies start to get too close to reality. Now, Maia and Caetano have to deal with jealousy, insecurities, and repressed desires, putting to the test what it really means to love and trust someone.
