The Martian (2015)

The Martian follows astronaut Mark Watney, a member of a manned mission on Martian soil. After a devastating storm hits the team, he is presumed dead and left behind by his companions, who leave believing there is no chance of survival. Waking up alone on an inhospitable planet, with scarce supplies and no direct communication with Earth, Watney faces an almost impossible challenge: to turn Mars into a temporary home while searching for a way to stay alive.

Combining scientific intelligence, improvisation, and a sharp sense of humor that helps him avoid succumbing to despair, Watney begins to grow food in the hostile environment, find ways to generate water and energy, and use all his creativity to resist extreme isolation. At the same time, NASA and his colleagues discover that he is alive, initiating a race against time and the abysmal distances of space to plan a risky rescue.

Directed by Ridley Scott, the film adapts Andy Weir's novel, with a screenplay by Drew Goddard, and balances tension and optimism in a survival narrative that combines science, human drama, and space adventure. More than a struggle for life, The Martian is a celebration of the human spirit, ingenuity, and collective strength in the face of the impossible.
