Steve (2025)

Steve (2025) follows an intense 24-hour snapshot in the life of a man in crisis. As director of a rehabilitation school—considered the last chance for troubled youth—Steve faces the daily challenge of maintaining discipline and offering a new opportunity to students whose stories are marked by violence, abandonment, and past mistakes. Between classroom conflicts and inevitable confrontations, he struggles to maintain a routine that requires authority, empathy, and resilience in equal measure.

While trying to keep his institution afloat, Steve hides an intimate battle against the deterioration of his own mental health. The weight of responsibilities and expectations pushes him into a state of growing exhaustion, revealing a man torn between his role as an educator and his fragility as an individual. The film takes the viewer on a claustrophobic journey, where every decision and every gesture seems to carry irreversible consequences.

Based on the novel and screenplay by Max Porter, directed by Tim Mielants, the film is constructed as a raw and human portrait of the pressure faced by those who carry lives in their hands, while facing their own inner demons.
