Don't Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996) follows Ashtray, a young man who returns to the violent Los Angeles neighborhood where he grew up to live with his father—a strangely youthful man whose maturity seems even less than that of his own son. Upon arriving, Ashtray finds himself surrounded by absurd situations that mix crime, urban chaos, and outrageous humor that defies all logic.

Amid frequent shootings and caricatured characters, he reunites with his cousin Loc Dog, who proclaims himself “America's worst nightmare,” and meets equally eccentric figures, such as Crazy Legs, an energetic wheelchair user who dreams of becoming a dancer. While trying to survive the unpredictable daily life of the neighborhood, Ashtray observes how violence and absurdity are part of the routine of everyone around him.

At the same time, he becomes involved with Daishiki, a confident and straightforward young woman who decides to teach him about love, relationships, and pleasure, while the world around them seems always on the verge of collapse. Between satire, exaggeration, and hilarious situations, the film uses humor to mock stereotypes, expose social contradictions, and transform urban drama into a provocative and irreverent comedy.
