In a near future ravaged by wars and environmental collapse, the big cities have collapsed and given way to brutal enclaves ruled by mega-corporations and technological overlords. Society is now a mosaic of survivors, abandoned machines and war zones where anything goes for a little energy or information.

Gear, a former military mechanic, lives in seclusion on the outskirts of Zone 9, where he runs a makeshift workshop with the help of his two inseparable companions: Qu-0213 - a rebellious android with a fragmented memory - and White Bear, a silent sniper with a dark past. Together, they survive by recovering and modifying stolen technology for dubious clients.

But everything changes when they receive an enigmatic proposal: break into an underground complex and steal an item whose value is kept secret even by the contractors. What seemed like just another dirty job quickly turns into a deadly hunt. Now Gear and his team are pursued by cybernetic assassins, bounty hunters and forces that should never have been awakened.

As secrets from the past come to light and unlikely alliances form, the trio must decide who to trust - and how much they are willing to sacrifice to survive in a world where a bullet can be more valuable than life itself.
